King Cruiser - Shark point - Koh Dok Mai
A sunken ferry King Cruiser is located offshore about 30 kilometers east of Phuket Island. A passenger ferry was operating between Phuket and the islands Phi Phi. Wrecked on May 4, 1997. Length of the ferry 85 meters, width 25 meters. Depth on the upper deck 18-21 meters, on the bottom 30-33 meters. Diving conditions are not easy due to the presence of currents. Visibility is 10-15 meters. For 20 years, the ferry has turned into a large reef, covered with a variety of soft corals, which attract a lot of fish. There are flocks of barracuda, tuna, Yellow Fusiller. The ferry has become home to nurse sharks, huge grouper and swarms of winged sharks.
Not far from King Cruiser is a dive site Shark Point. It consists of a series of reefs-pinnacles located from north to south. The first of them rises about 2 meters above the water surface. There is a lighthouse at the top of the rock. The remaining pinacles are underwater.
The depth of the site reaches 20-25 meters. Currents are often quite strong. Visibility is 10-20 meters. The reef is covered with many colorful soft corals, which makes it one of the most beautiful sites in Phuket. Here you can meet cuttlefish, octopus, seahorses, turtles. The luckiest ones may encounter a leopard shark or even a whale shark.
On the way back on Phuket we will be greeted by a rock covered with greenery and rising 30 meters above the water. This is the island Koh Dok Mai, which means "Flower" in Thai. Going underwater, we float along a steep wall that goes to a depth of 25 meters. The currents are mostly strong. Using the technique of diving in currents we will explore almost the entire island wall. Visibility is 10-20 meters.
